The New York Times announced 5 percent pay cut. Hopefully, it's a temporary measure (but I don't think it would be back to the normal pay standard, from my experience).
It is interesting that the New York Times itself published the pay cut story. It is not the case of the Japanese newspaper industry, which is incredibly exclusive. Japanese newspapers never tell stories which are not favorable to them. So, we (outsiders) don't know what is really going on in the Japanese newspaper industry.
